Welcome to Our New Regional Staff: Colette Taylor, Regional Director and Brie Wells, Regional Coordinator.
Taylor, who joined us August 2, brings years of nonprofit management and fundraising experience to Dollars for Scholars, most recently as Associate Director of Athletics Annual Giving at Pepperdine University. Prior to joining Pepperdine, Taylor served in several roles with the Boy Scouts of America. In her new role with Dollars for Scholars, Taylor will be responsible for managing and expanding the operations and programs of the region, through diversified fundraising, marketing and supporting community-based Dollars for Scholars chapters.
Wells joined Dollars for Scholars on July 12, and brings a depth of experience in chapter development and training. As regional coordinator, Wells will create, develop, and mentor new chapters; support and sustain existing chapters; train volunteers and work with the regional board to facilitate their training and enhance board recruitment.
"We couldn’t be happier adding Colette and Brie to our staff on the ground in California," said Lauren Segal, President and CEO, Scholarship America.
"Their combined experience and passion for education will help us grow the reach of Dollars for Scholars across the state, and provide more support for more California students seeking education beyond high school."
• Featured Chapter: Oakland Dollars for Scholars: In 1995, Oakland small-business-owner Pamela Collinshill took some of her free time to search for college scholarships for those who asked. She found many students in need of help, and few scholarships for Oakland students. And she also found Dollars for Scholars, and learned how the organization could help her help students. Now, Pam is an original founding board member of a successful chapter that celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2010. Read her inspiring story today!
